HUT Consulting licenses the Tracknburn FoodData API for non-competitive usage and research purposes. The license does not allow reselling the data or exposing the database for free access via another web site.

What is the Tracknburn FoodData API?

The Tracknburn FoodData API is an http-based web service that utilizes SSL to provide secure communication between our Amazon EC2 servers and your application.  Http calls can be made from many of the most popular development languages.  The Tracknburn FoodData API allows searching through the TFdb for everything from restaurant foods to non-branded grocery store items.  Once a food is located using the search, a subsequent call to the service can be made to retrieve serving and nutrient data.

Nutritional database management can be a full-time job.  With the Tracknburn Fooddata API, we allow you to focus on the core of your application, while we provide the data.  The TFdb is changing constantly.  Through the web service mentioned above, time-to-market is immediate, and updates to the data set are therefore quickly and easily deployed.  By utilizing a cloud scalable server, the service quality persists as your user demands increase with your growing business.  You can license the database with minimal up front costs and reasonable ongoing costs.  We provide two options:

1) Flat license fee: One payment for set-up, support, integration, and usage followed by a smaller yearly renewable fee.  You are only responsible for the actual annual server cost- we will not charge for maintenance or updates.  This license structure is lower cost than any other nutritional database in our class.

2) Pay-per-query: Small up-front set-up fee.  This structure includes the first 1 million queries for the first 2 months to help get your development and testing situated, followed by a billable pay-per-query rate.  There are never any monthly server costs as this is built into the pay-per-query structure.  This option allows your company to get in fast and inexpensively, with a chance to grow without a large burden on your resources.
