What are Your Version 1.03 Suggestions?

Version 1.03 is underway.  While we can’t get to everything at once, I can give you a preview of what we are working on.  In this version, you will no longer loser custom food information or favorites when updating to new versions of CT.  The most asked about option will be included- metrics will be an options for users to toggle on or off.  In addition, the database is being updated and modified.  Our list is about 30 items long, but we would love to hear your top three additions and/or changes to Version 1.03.  Thank you for your support.

It would be great if we could maintain/save 3 different menus (e.g. for breakfast) that can be used over 3 different days. It’s a pain to start from scratch (even with the favorites list) to create a new menu each day.

We have in the works an option to set up “meals” instead of individual food items. This option will not be available in 1.03, but will occur in a future version. As for “recent” foods or items, this is a great idea. If I understand correctly, you would like to have easy access to items you just had previously. We could possibly build-in a feature to have the most recent items logged to be recalled easily.

I really like this application. It will help me significantly. I have already lost 80 lbs on a controlled carb diet over the last 16 months. With the addition of the iPhone and this app I can better track my future carb consumption.

.I would like to see the net carb values in the groceries database updated to include the sugar alcohols.

.The Atkins values for the various Atkins bars do not match the values on the Atkins bar packages – this needs to be updated.

.I would like to be able to edit Favorites that I add. For example, I added a Pizza that my wife cooks but forgot an ingredient in the carb count. I had to delete it and readd it to update it. I would have rather simply edited the one I previously added.

Thanks for a great app. I’m looking forward to the updates!

Bob, so glad to hear of your weight loss and want to encourage you to keep up the great work. I know it is difficult, but you sound like you are on a roll. Your suggestions on the sugar alcohols are well taken. As for the Atkins values in version 1.01, you are correct…they are not correct. We have corrected this to reflect the actual net carbs in their products and you will see this in version 1.02 coming out from Apple any day now. As for the editing version, unfortunately there is no easy solution for this. There are some programming issues with this, but we are aware that people want this feature and we are looking into presently.

Thanks for your positive feedback and I look forward to hearing about your experiences again. All the best!

Would love to see brand search in addition to groceries, e.g., “Kraft” or “Oroweat/Arnold 100% Whole Wheat Lite Bread” is not available in the groceries and there is no Light Whole Wheat option to select when looking at results for Bread. Would food manufacturers supply you with database information? I would think they want their information on the app…may do it for free.

Also, accurate fiber and sugar alcohol counts would be a great add. I’ve already reported some inconsistencies.

Making app better all the time is great. I love this tool. Thank you.

One more thing – a community blog on this site to share custom foods or provide adds to the database would be great. Would love to share ideas and foods with other low carbers!

Jeri, those are great comments. As for the brands, we have already update tons of these in version 1.03 (did not even know people would want it) so you will see some of this in v 1.03. As for the fiber/sugar alcohols, we have completely updated the Atkins information for v 1.03. In v1.02, the net carbs are correct but we did this by adjusting the other values. Now in v1.03 the values are correct and updated…so very timely question.

Jeri, we have thought about opening up a forum for users. I think that this is a great idea and is surely something that we can think about. We will see if there is much response to this thread. If there is, I will get it done. Thanks for your great ideas.

I have a couple of suggestions. Firstly, when you go into a meal, it would be nice to see A) How many servings you chose for each item, and B) how many (total) net carbs that item contributed to that meal, without having the extra click. Secondly, I have been unable to find a way to delete an item once I have added it to a meal. I tend to use your application to plan my day, (and change it as I go), so the ability to actually remove items instead of changing them to 0 servings would be nice.

  10. Healthy U says:

Aevin, you can see your servings and net carbs, but it requires you to select on the item as you mentioned. We have something coming up that will get you close to what you are referring to (future version upcoming). As for the deleting of food, you can see this in the tutorial videos. Simply swipe your finger over the food and the delete button appears. If you have a favorite you are trying to delete, go to the menu bar at the bottom and select Favorites, then edit, then delete.

I can’t believe that no one suggested this (or i couldn’t find it), but for us international buyers, the meassuring units area deal-breakers. How about an option to switch for grams, kg, liters, and so forth? I can meassure ounces in water! (well, i can with a calculator, but that’s beside the point, hehe). Anyway, what do you think? I’m THIS close of buying your app and recommending it. Think you can help me out?

  12. AllenS says:

Great app. Glad to see that fractional values will be added in an upcoming release. I agree with BobRinGA in that the custom foods need to be editable. Currently, if you make a typo you must delete and re-add. This is the most valuable enhancement IMHO.

  13. Healthy U says:

Allen, I agree with you and this is something that we are working on. It sounds so simple (at least it does to me) but presents issues with my programmer. Nonetheless, we are going to get it done. Thanks.

  14. Healthy U says:

This is something that is already in the works. We have a feature that will allow a toggle change to metrics for weight loss and food values.
